Edmond Memorial High promoted assistant girls soccer coach Rachelle Lisle to head coach after an extended search, according to the school.
Lisle fills the vacancy left by Byron Gutierrez, who accepted a head coaching job at Randal University back in December. Gutierrez had coached the Bulldogs since 2020.
Lisle has kept herself close to Bulldogs soccer since her playing days at the school, serving as assistant coach for Memorial since 2019. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2016, and has been teaching kindergarten, as well as coaching, ever since.
The 2012 Edmond Memorial graduate takes the helm of a squad that finished 11-4 this past season and advanced to the Oklahoma Class 6A quarterfinal round, losing to Norman North.
The first-year head coach will immediately have her hands full, though, as the Bulldogs lost a handful of impactful seniors, including goalkeeper Haley Fitzgerald, defender Hailey Brown, and forwards Mikala Beagles and Ava Vigil.
The new chapter of Bulldogs soccer begins next year, when the season kicks off in February.
