Edmond, OK — December 11, 2023 — On Tuesday, December 12th, the Edmond Police traffic unit will be conducting a traffic enforcement operation along Kelly Avenue, spanning from 33rd Street to Covell Road. This initiative is part of a no-tolerance campaign, made possible through a grant secured from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.

The targeted area encompasses one of Edmond's busiest intersections, Danforth and Kelly, which witnesses 65 thousand vehicles passing through daily. Unfortunately, this intersection also holds the distinction of having the highest number of vehicle crashes in the city.

The primary objective of this operation is to enhance public safety by cracking down on traffic violations and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations. Officers will be strategically positioned to identify and address various infractions, promoting safer driving habits and reducing the risk of accidents.

Residents and commuters are urged to exercise extra caution when traveling through the targeted area on December 12th, as officers will be enforcing a no-tolerance policy for traffic violations. The Edmond Police Department encourages all motorists to adhere to posted speed limits, obey traffic signals, and prioritize safe driving practices to ensure the well-being of all road users.

This special traffic enforcement operation aligns with the Edmond Police Department's ongoing efforts to create a safer environment for the community. By taking a proactive approach to traffic safety, the department aims to contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life for residents.
