As of this past Saturday, we are about halfway through the season for Citizens Bank of Edmond's Heard on Hurd. The festival, which began in March, is held on the third Saturday of the month through October.
Originated in 2013, the event has brought tens of millions of dollars in economic impact and millions of attendees to Edmond. With more than 60 vendors, there is something for everyone.
Some new kids on the block are enjoying their first ventures this year with an event booth.
Terry Herndon, with Bald & Bearded Designs, is out of Piedmont and has been to every event since March. With a plethora of woodworking items to choose from, like coasters, maps, key chains and more, there's a gift for every taste. Herndon says Heard on Hurd has had "great business, is a great time and have really enjoyed it." Take a look the next time you are there.
Similar sentiments come from the owners of Freeze and Squeeze, who were pleased to have been chosen as a vendor. A true family affair, twin daughters of owners Trina and Skip Davidson ran the event this month for the first time while their parents were hosting their business at another location.
Fun fact: Freeze and Squeeze was the first freeze-dried candy company in Oklahoma, started in 2021. Daughters Sherilynn and Cayleann, along with "friend and trusted assistant" Charlie, ran the booth for the June 17th event. The girls, like their parents, said they "absolutely love it!" They also can be found at the art show and various other events. If you have a sweet tooth, try some of their freeze-dried Skittles and Nerds.
Visitors can find countless other booths lined along the streets of the festival, including doggy day cares and boarding; plants (even for those of us with black thumbs); boutique clothes; the Edmond Public Schools Foundation; US Army; Liberty Fest; and, of course, food.
So much food and drink, there definitely are options for all palates. Craft and local beers, pizza, tacos, Greek cuisine, teas and drinks, frozen treats and much more can all be found in downtown Edmond during Heard on Hurd.
There also is live music on stage and the stores stay open, many with sidewalk sales, to let customers enjoy all the business Edmond has to offer.
If you haven't attended yet, you have four more chances this year to check it out.
Don't forget, every day, to: Live, Learn, Work and PLAY, The Edmond Way.
